Organisational structure of the Procurator General’s Office

At present, in addition to the Head of the Office, four section heads, known as First Advocate General, and thirteen deputies of the Procurator General, known as Advocate General, have been appointed to the Procurator General’s Office. The section heads, in addition to their role of filling in for the Head of the Office, are also responsible for internal auditing of the Advocate General activities and their sections.

The following (abridged) presentation offers a rough overview of the organisational structure within the Procurator General’s Office. At present, in addition to the Head of the Office, four section heads, known as Senior Deputy Procurator General, and thirteen substitutes of the Procurator General, known as Deputy Procurator General, as well as the administrative staff are employed in the Procurator General’s Office.

II. Sections 1 to 4

Sections 1 to 4 are headed by the Senior Deputies Procurator General who act as substitutes to the Head of Office as well as section heads. They are also responsible for internal auditing of sections 5 to 17.

III. Other sections

Sections 5 to 17 are headed by Deputies Procurator General who are responsible for preparing opinions in appellate criminal proceedings before the Supreme Court (reference code “Gs“), in disciplinary proceedings against judges, notaries, lawyers, candidate lawyers (reference code “Gds”) and for settling matters as stipulated in sec. 23 para. 1, sec. 28 and sec. 362 para. 1 no. 2 StPO (“Gw“) as well as all other general matters (“Gn“). The cases are generally allocated to the individual sections by order of receipt. Specific matters under the Media Act as well as acts of defamation and violations of religious freedom are primarily allocated to section heads with expert knowledge.
